Guilmon was depressed. Just a few minutes ago, he was playing hide-and-seek with Terriermon and Calumon. Now, he was lost. The Digimon wandered through the woods restlessly, hoping to find his friends, or hopefully Takato. Finally, he came across something. It resembled a monkey, with orange and white fur, yellow markings on its shoulders and knees, and a torrent of flames erupting from its head.
"That's no ordinary monkey. That must be a Digimon." Guilmon thought. "Hey, are you a Digimon?!" He yelled. The monkey turned around and glared at Guilmon, its mouth pulled back in a snarl before it shouted at the reptilian Digimon.
"INFERNAPE!"
"Infernape, huh? That's a weird name. My name's Guilmon. Do you have any bread?" Guilmon asked. Unfortunately, Infernape had no bread, and the Pokemon lunged at Guilmon with a fist pulled back. Guilmon jumped out of the way and looked back at the flaming monkey.
"You could've just said no! Now, you've got me mad!" Guilmon snarled, his pupils turning into slits as he exchanged a glare with Infernape, who clenched its fists and slammed them together.
FIGHT!
Infernape made the first move, rushing at Guilmon and readying its fist for a punch. Guilmon rolled out of the way and opened his mouth wide.
"PYRO SPHERE!"
A ball of red-hot flames shot from the Digital Hazard's mouth, hitting Infernape right in the chest and knocking the monkey back. The Flame Pokemon quickly got up and lunged at Guilmon again, scratching him across the face.
Infernape used Scratch!
Guilmon shook off the Scratch attack and swung his tail right into Infernape's body, but the Pokemon braced itself for the blow and hit Guilmon with a rapid combo of punches before kicking him back with both feet. When Guilmon got up, the reptilian Digimon saw a fiery wheel rolling across the ground, the blazing wheel striking him and forcing him to the ground.
Infernape used Flame Wheel!
Guilmon quickly got back up and grabbed Infernape by the tail, slamming the monkey into a tree with the force to knock it down. However, Infernape grabbed the broken tree and chucked it at Guilmon.
"PYRO SPHERE!"
With one shot, Guilmon reduced the hazard to splinters before running at Infernape and slashing the Pokemon with his claws. Infernape countered with a kick to the stomach, followed by running behind Guilmon and punching him into the air. From the sky, Guilmon shot thre Pyro Spheres down at Infernape, who dodged them before leaping after its opponent. The Flame Pokemon hit Guilmon with a powerful right hook, sending him colliding back to the ground.
"Ow... That hurt..." Guilmon muttered, rubbing his sore head before looking up at Infernape, who was about to land on him and hit him with more attacks. Guilmon rolled out of the way of a dive kick and got up before lunging at Infernape and slashing at it with his claws.
"ROCK BREAKER!"
The force of Guilmon's attack knocked Infernape to the ground, but the fire monkey got right back up and dashed at Guilmon, landing a fierce uppercut on the reptilian Digimon. After getting sent flying into a tree from the hit, Guilmon shot a Pyro Sphere at Infernape. Bracing itself for the blast, Infernape continued charging as speeds Guilmon could barely keep up with, hitting Guilmon with a lightning-fast punch.
Infernape used Mach Punch!
The punch sent Guilmon flying, smashing through several trees in the process. Dazed from the blow, Guilmon glared at Infernape and unleashed a barrage of Pyro Spheres from his mouth, destroying many trees around him. Infernape ran right through the Pyro Sphere barrage and threw another punch at Guilmon. However, Guilmon opened his mouth wide and bit down on Infernape's hand, stopping the blow. Before Infernape could pull his hand free, Guilmon opened his mouth and fired off a point-blank Pyro Sphere.
KABOOM!
The resulting explosion sent Infernape flying into the distance, Guilmon running after his opponent before finding him collapsed on the ground, a crater formed in the ground around it and smoke emanating from its body.
"Hey, are you awake? Did I win?" Guilmon asked before Infernape got up, opening its mouth and spitting out a thin stream of orange flames. Guilmon leaned to the side to dodge, but the attack ended up hitting the ground next to his feet. Right as Guilmon thought he was in the clear, the fire stream formed itself into a raging vortex of flames that trapped Guilmon, burning him several times.
Infernape used Fire Spin!
Guilmon screamed with pain as Infernape charged up to him and started punching him in the stomach, hurting the Digimon even more.
"RRAAAAAGGGHHH!"
Guilmon continued screaming as Infernape kept attacking, multiple bruises and burn marks forming on the reptilian Digimon's body. Finally, a Mach Punch from Infernape ended the fire monkey's combo as the Fire Spin wore off, leaving Guilmon battered, bruised, burned, and close to unconsciousness. The Digital Hazard slumped to the ground, and Infernape raised a fist for the finishing blow.
"No... I won't lose yet. I got to keep fighting... For Takato." Guilmon thought. A bright light engulfed his body, data streams surrounding Guilmon as he felt a new strength flow through his digital form.
"Guilmon digivolve to..."
"GROWLMON!"
Infernape looked at Guilmon, who had changed immensely in the last couple seconds. He had grown much bigger, gaining a much more monstrous appearance, and now sported a small pair of horns along with a mane of white hair.
"Alright, monkey! Let's see you try and beat me now!" Growlmon exclaimed, Infernape snarling in response before letting out a screech. Infernape lunged at Growlmon, unleashing a barrage of scratches on him.
Infernape used Fury Swipes!
Unfortunately for Infernape, the blows just glanced off of Growlmon's hide, leaving no marks. The crimson dragon opened his mouth wide, a fireball forming inside his gaping maw.
"PYRO BLASTER!"
Suddenly, a giant column of flames emerged from Growlmon's mouth, which Infernape nearly dodged as it lit a large amount of trees ablaze. Infernape darted into the burning forest, hoping to escape its opponent, but Growlmon chased the flaming monkey and fired off another Pyro Blaster, which incinerated some more trees. Before he could turn to fire another blast, Infernape nimbly lunged at him and hit him with a swift kick, which moved faster than Growlmon could track.
Infernape used Acrobatics!
The attack dazed Growlmon slightly, letting Infernape land three more hits on him in quick succession.
"This isn't good. I'm a lot bigger than he is, but he's too fast for me to hit. What do I do?" Growlmon racked his brain for an idea, but the thinking session didn't last long. The Deep-Crimson Demon Dragon felt a small fireball hit his side, though it didn't hurt him all that much. Infernape then jumped out of a bush and hit Growlmon in the face with a Mach Punch, nearly knocking the large Digimon flat on his ass. Growlmon quickly righted himself and extended blades from his elbows, the blades glowing and crackling with energy.
"DRAGON SLASH!"
Growlmon swung his elbow blades at Infernape, who maneuvered around them before hitting his draconic foe with a fierce roundhouse kick. Growlmon kept on slashing with his elbow blades, but the Flame Pokemon dodged every single swipe before countering with a fierce blow. Eventually, Growlmon had an idea. He swung his blades at Infernape as usual, forcing the Pokemon to dodge to the left. As soon as Infernape got into position, Growlmon fired his plasma-enhanced blades at Infernape, which he dodged by jumping into the air. Once the Fire-type Pokemon was above him, Growlmon raised his head to the sky, opened his mouth, and unleashed a Pyro Blaster up at his airborne foe.
Direct hit.
Infernape fell to the ground like a rock, its body blackened and smoking as it groaned with pain. Growlmon threw out his arms and roared with triumph, the volume of his yell shaking the ground with its volume. While Growlmon roared, thoughts raced inside Infernape's head. It wasn't going to go down like this. Charred, beaten, near-death. That wasn't how it was going to end this fight.
"Grrrrr..."
Growlmon looked down at Infernape with confusion, and the flaming monkey slowly rose to its feet. Clenching its fists, Infernape's entire body was engulfed in flames, and the Pokemon rocketed at Growlmon like a blazing missile. Ramming right into Growlmon's stomach, Infernape launched his opponent's giant form backwards with powerful explosive force. Growlmon's damaged body plowed through several trees like a bulldozer, leaving a giant line of smashed wood and leaves in the forest.
Infernape used Flare Blitz!
"INFERNAPE!" The Flame Pokemon screeched before gritting its teeth in pain. The recoil damage from its Flare Blitz was kicking in. Meanwhile, Growlmon was struggling to get up after taking Infernape's attack, but he eventually got back on his feet and blew some smoke from his nose. He wasn't playing around anymore. Unfortunately, Growlmon could no longer see Infernape through the woods surrounding him, so he did what any other rational fire-breathing reptile would do.
"PYRO BLASTER!"
Infernape looked around in horror as soon as it heard those words. The trees behind the Pokemon burst into flames before burning to ash. Looking around, Infernape saw the fire spread and burn down more trees until half the forest was reduced to cinders.
"RRRAAAAAAGHGH!" Growlmon exclaimed as it emerged from the inferno he had started, pupils becoming slit and his gaze becoming that of a wild beast. Instead of backing down, Infernape glared up at its opponent and shrieked at him, the flames on his head growing more intense as it slammed its fists together.
"DRAGON SLASH!"
Growlmon swiped at Infernape with his elbow blades, Infernape dodging the slash before grabbing onto Growlmon's arm. Despite Infernape's size being less than impressive compared to Growlmon, the Pokemon was still very strong. It lifted Growlmon over its shoulder by his arm and slammed the Deep-Crimson Demon Dragon into the dirt. The grounded Growlmon swept Infernape off its feet with a swing of his tail before getting back up on his feet and grabbing the Fire-type Pokemon, crushing it in his hands.
"Now I've got you!" Growlmon exclaimed. The Digimon raised its foe into the air before driving it into the ground and unleashing a point-blank Pyro Blaster. The flames engulfed Infernape's body, and Growlmon reared up to celebrate what appeared to be his victory.
Big mistake.
Infernape jumped through the flames, covered in burns and bruises, and got extremely close to Growlmon before unleashing a barrage of punches and kicks on the reptilian Digimon, not giving him a second to rest or fight back.
Infernape used Close Combat!
With two more punches, Infernape struck Growlmon down. It was beaten, burned, and tired, but it had finally knocked its foe out. At least, for a little bit.
"Growlmon digivolve too..."
Infernape looked at Growlmon, and saw his body flash as more data streams poured into him.
"WARGROWLMON!"
Growlmon's body was now much larger, with crimson and silver armor covering his chest. His new metal arms has large blades coming from them, and a strange mask covered his face. With a mighty roar, WarGrowlmon swung his Pendulum Blades at Infernape, who rolled out of the blade's way. When the Pendulum Blade struck the ground, it left a massive gash in the earth, shaking the ground and nearly knocking Infernape off its feet.
"Infer-"
Before Infernape could finish saying its name in confusion, WarGrowlmon activated a pair of jets on his back and rocketed at Infernape, followed by kicking the Pokemon into the air.
"NAAAAAAAAAPE!" The Flame Pokemon screamed as it went flying into the air. WarGrowlmon used his jets to fly after Infernape, repeatedly slashing it with his Pendulum Blades before smacking it back to the ground with his tail. When he landed back on the ground, WarGrowlmon started charging energy into the cannons on his chest. Infernape looked up at WarGrowlmon, and grimaced at what was about to happen.
"ATOMIC BLASTER!"
Twin beams of crimson energy fired from WarGrowlmon's chest, but Infernape rolled out of the blast's way and used Mach Punch, landing a blow on WarGrowlmon's chest. However, Infernape felt a huge pain in his hand when the punch landed, and WarGrowlmon's armor didn't have so much as a dent in it.
"My armor is made of Chrome Digizoid, the strongest metal in the Digital World! You won't be able to break it that easily!" WarGrowlmon yelled. The Great Growlmon repeatedly swung his blades at Infernape, who had to quickly maneuver around each slash. As it dodged, it could feel itself tiring out, and it became much harder to avoid getting sliced up. Infernape attempted a Flame Wheel, but WarGrowlmon's armor made the attack about as effective as a light slap.
"PENDULUM BLADE!"
WarGrowlmon landed a direct hit to Infernape's chest with his plasma-enhanced blades, leaving behind a long slash mark. One backhanded slash later, and Infernape was knocked to the ground. Despite its wounds, Infernape still got up, eyes bloodshot and head flames raging just as much as ever.
"You don't like giving up, do you? That's okay. Neither do I. Which is why I'm gonna beat you!" WarGrowlmon exclaimed before bringing his arms down on Infernape, crushing the ground beneath them as Infernape attempted to hold them up. Though Infernape did its best to hold the Digimon's massive arms up, it was no use. With how beaten the Flame Pokemon was, there was no way it could hold up that much weight, and WarGrowlmon managed to crush Infernape under his hands. When WarGrowlmon raised his arms, Infernape looked like it was just about finished.
"ATOMIC BLASTER!"
WarGrowlmon fired crimson energy beams from its chest, hoping to finally finish Infernape off. When the blast hit, a giant explosion occurred, making a dust cloud billow up in the process. When the dust cleared, WarGrowlmon saw Infernape struggling to get back on its feet. The cyborg Digimon readied himself to attack again if need be as Infernape got back up and threw out its arms, letting out a loud screech as a pillar of flames erupted out around it.
"INFERNAPE!"
When Infernape opened its eyes, they glowed crimson, and the flames on its head were expanded and raging. The Flame Pokemon was burning brighter than ever. Wasting no time, Infernape curled into a ball and used Flame Wheel. Instead of his armor protecting him like expected, the flames actually burned WarGrowlmon a bit, though his armor was only slightly singed.
"Wow! He got strong all of a sudden!" WarGrowlmon muttered to himself. Infernape shot multiple small fireballs from his mouth, which WarGrowlmon blocked with his Pendulum Blades, before leaping back and using Fire Spin, but this time, the fiery cyclone was more like a raging tornado of Infernape's fury and passion, the flames forcing WarGrowlmon to duck and cover against the heat they were giving off.
WarGrowlmon gritted his teeth and fired an Atomic Blaster at Infernape, but the Blaze-enhanced Flame Pokemon dodged it and landed another Flame Wheel on WarGrowlmon. The Great Growlmon reared up and roared, slashing at the air with plasma-enhanced Pendulum Blades to forcefully dispel the Fire Spin that trapped him, but Infernape was ready for that. The fire monkey leaped at WarGrowlmon and unleashed a powerful Close Combat on him, followed with three Flame Wheels in succession.
"I'm gonna be charbroiled if this keeps up!" WarGrowlmon thought. Flame Wheel and Pendulum Blade clashed many times as Infernape and WarGrowlmon's battle raged on, the intense fires Infernape unleashed burning down every tree in the area, turning the once-lush forest into a desolate wasteland.
"ATOMIC BLASTER!"
Infernape dodged some more laser blasts from WarGrowlmon's chest, before countering with a barrage of Ember attacks. WarGrowlmon slapped the fireballs away and retaliated with a slash from his Pendulum Blades. Infernape jumped and grabbed onto one of the Pendulum Blades, running up it and climbing up WarGrowlmon's large body.
"Hey, what are you doing? T-That tickles!" WarGrowlmon exclaimed, trying to catch Infernape as it scurried up his body. When it reached the Digimon's chest plate, Infernape unleashed a barrage of Mach Punches onto it, hoping to dent the metal at the very least. However, WarGrowlmon swatted Infernape away with his Pendulum Blades, leaving it even more scratched up than it already was.
WarGrowlmon started firing Atomic Blaster after Atomic Blaster at Infernape, and the Flame Pokemon dodged and rolled around each shot before one of the blasts finally hit it. The resulting explosion propelled Infernape towards WarGrowlmon, who smacked it away with his blades. Getting back up on its feet, Infernape lunged at WarGrowlmon and struck it with a flurry of Mach Punches to the jaw. WarGrowlmon slashed and bit at it, but Infernape kept wailing on him. Finally, Infernape struck WarGrowlmon with a Flame Wheel that pushed him back and knocked him to the ground.
When the Flame Pokemon landed, it clung onto WarGrowlmon's chest, standing on top of him and pumping its fists with victory. Meanwhile, WarGrowlmon was pissed. This thing thought it could attack him out of nowhere, destroy his favorite playing area, and beat him to a pulp without consequences. No, he was going to make this monkey pay for what it did.
"RAAAAAAAAGH!" The Great Growlmon screamed as he got back up on his feet, knocking Infernape off of his chest and throwing out his arms. If one looked close enough, they'd see the Digimon's eyes glowing crimson. Suddenly, a tornado of flames erupted around WarGrowlmon's body, the Digital Hazard symbol on his chest rapidly flashing different colors before his massive body was completely hidden in the inferno.
BOOM!
Lightning flashed in the sky as WarGrowlmon continued roaring from inside the fire tornado, his silhouette visibly changing and shifting into something much more monstrous. Infernape backed away in confusion before the inferno finally dissipated, revealing something that could only be described as horrific in WarGrowlmon's place.
He now resembled a colossal dragon, with a long tail replacing his legs and tattered yellow wings on his back. His irises were blood-red, and his entire body was crimson and white. The symbol on his chest now also appeared on his snout and shoulders, and his massive arms had two bladed gauntlets on them.
Megidramon let out a roar, though it wasn't just any roar. This was a primal roar filled with anger and hatred. Instead of backing down and running away, Infernape stepped up to the Digital Hazard and let out a roar of its own. Megidramon glared down at Infernape, and roared once more, some of his saliva getting on Infernape's face and burning his skin. But Infernape didn't back down. The Flame Pokemon screeched, beat its chest, and struck Megidramon in the face with a Mach Punch.
Megidramon showed no sign of pain from the blow. All it did was snarl and looked annoyed, so Infernape tried again. No matter how many punches it landed, Megidramon didn't seem to feel anything from them. He just roared again and swiped at Infernape with his claws, tearing up the ground while Infernape lunged out of the way.
The Flame Pokemon used every attack it could to attempt to take down Megidramon. It tried a Flame Wheel, but the Digital Hazard smacked him away with a swipe of his claws. It tried Fire Spin, but a simple roar from the Virus-type dispelled the flames. It tried Close Combat, but the blows just glanced off of Megidramon's armored skin. All the while, Megidramon lashed out with his tail and claws, brutally beating Infernape and knocking him down.
Infernape tried to get back up, but all the damage it had taken was taking its toll, making it hard for the Pokemon to stand. When it eventually did get up, Infernape decided to bring out its strongest attack. The Sinnoh Starter jumped into the air and engulfed its body with flames, which quickly went from a reddish-orange to a bright blue.
"IN! FERN! APE!" The fire monkey exclaimed, propelling itself at Megidramon like a simian missile and striking the Digimon in the chest. However, it did nothing. Megidramon just roared at Infernape as it tried desperately to harm him with Flare Blitz. As the attack cancelled out, Megidramon wrapped his long tail around Infernape, pulled the Pokemon close to his jaws, and opened his mouth. Looking deep into the Digimon's jaws, Infernape could see a bright orange flame building up inside them.
"Nape?"
In one shot, the Megiddo Flame reduced Infernape's body to nothing but ashes.
K.O.!
Megidramon's body glowed, and he started to shrink. Eventually, he was reduced back to the form of Guilmon.
"That made me tired... I'm just gonna rest here for a bit." The Digital Hazard said, falling asleep in the wasteland his battle had created.

Flash: Damn! That was brutal.
Raiden: At the beginning of the fight, Infernape actually had a chance of winning. Its speed, strength, and larger attack variety gave it multiple advantages over Guilmon, who only had two attacks, and lacked the intelligence to come up with any good strategy to counter.
Bayonetta: And then digivolving comes into play.
Flash: Digivolution gave Guilmon a way to simultaneously heal himself and increase his strength by a large amount. Each time Guilmon digivolved, he'd be restored to full health, while Infernape kept every injury he took to the bitter end. It doesn't help that Guilmon's digivolutions are much larger than Infernape, and WarGrowlmon's armor was tough enough to take anything Infernape could dish out.
Raiden: Though Blaze could even the playing field a bit, it only activates when Infernape's very close to getting knocked out, meaning Infernape would have to take its opponent out without getting hit too much.
Bayonetta: When Megidramon comes out, that's when Infernape really doesn't have a chance. His body is made entirely of Chrome Digizoid, meaning Infernape wouldn't be able to land much good hits on him, while one Megiddo Flame could reduce Infernape to dust.
Flash: Looks like Infernape's fire won't be burning anymore.
Raiden: The winner is Guilmon.

Infernape ran right through the Pyro Sphere barrage and threw another punch at Guilmon. However, Guilmon opened his mouth wide and bit down on Infernape's hand, stopping the blow. Before Infernape could pull his hand free, Guilmon opened his mouth and fired off a point-blank Pyro Sphere.
KABOOM!
The resulting explosion sent Infernape flying into the distance, Guilmon running after his opponent before finding him collapsed on the ground, a crater formed in the ground around it and smoke emanating from its body.
"Hey, are you awake? Did I win?" Guilmon asked before Infernape got up, opening its mouth and spitting out a thin stream of orange flames. Guilmon leaned to the side to dodge, but the attack ended up hitting the ground next to his feet. Right as Guilmon thought he was in the clear, the fire stream formed itself into a raging vortex of flames that trapped Guilmon, burning him several times.
Infernape used Fire Spin!
Guilmon screamed with pain as Infernape charged up to him and started punching him in the stomach, hurting the Digimon even more.
"RRAAAAAGGGHHH!"
Guilmon continued screaming as Infernape kept attacking, multiple bruises and burn marks forming on the reptilian Digimon's body. Finally, a Mach Punch from Infernape ended the fire monkey's combo as the Fire Spin wore off, leaving Guilmon battered, bruised, burned, and close to unconsciousness. The Digital Hazard slumped to the ground, and Infernape raised a fist for the finishing blow.
"No... I won't lose yet. I got to keep fighting... For Takato." Guilmon thought. A bright light engulfed his body, data streams surrounding Guilmon as he felt a new strength flow through his digital form.
"Guilmon digivolve to..."
"GROWLMON!"
Infernape looked at Guilmon, who had changed immensely in the last couple seconds. He had grown much bigger, gaining a much more monstrous appearance, and now sported a small pair of horns along with a mane of white hair.
"Alright, monkey! Let's see you try and beat me now!" Growlmon exclaimed, Infernape snarling in response before letting out a screech. Infernape lunged at Growlmon, unleashing a barrage of scratches on him.
Infernape used Fury Swipes!
Unfortunately for Infernape, the blows just glanced off of Growlmon's hide, leaving no marks. The crimson dragon opened his mouth wide, a fireball forming inside his gaping maw.
"PYRO BLASTER!"
Suddenly, a giant column of flames emerged from Growlmon's mouth, which Infernape nearly dodged as it lit a large amount of trees ablaze. Infernape darted into the burning forest, hoping to escape its opponent, but Growlmon chased the flaming monkey and fired off another Pyro Blaster, which incinerated some more trees. Before he could turn to fire another blast, Infernape nimbly lunged at him and hit him with a swift kick, which moved faster than Growlmon could track.
Infernape used Acrobatics!
The attack dazed Growlmon slightly, letting Infernape land three more hits on him in quick succession.
"This isn't good. I'm a lot bigger than he is, but he's too fast for me to hit. What do I do?" Growlmon racked his brain for an idea, but the thinking session didn't last long. The Deep-Crimson Demon Dragon felt a small fireball hit his side, though it didn't hurt him all that much. Infernape then jumped out of a bush and hit Growlmon in the face with a Mach Punch, nearly knocking the large Digimon flat on his ass. Growlmon quickly righted himself and extended blades from his elbows, the blades glowing and crackling with energy.
"DRAGON SLASH!"
Growlmon swung his elbow blades at Infernape, who maneuvered around them before hitting his draconic foe with a fierce roundhouse kick. Growlmon kept on slashing with his elbow blades, but the Flame Pokemon dodged every single swipe before countering with a fierce blow. Eventually, Growlmon had an idea. He swung his blades at Infernape as usual, forcing the Pokemon to dodge to the left. As soon as Infernape got into position, Growlmon fired his plasma-enhanced blades at Infernape, which he dodged by jumping into the air. Once the Fire-type Pokemon was above him, Growlmon raised his head to the sky, opened his mouth, and unleashed a Pyro Blaster up at his airborne foe.
Direct hit.
Infernape fell to the ground like a rock, its body blackened and smoking as it groaned with pain. Growlmon threw out his arms and roared with triumph, the volume of his yell shaking the ground with its volume. While Growlmon roared, thoughts raced inside Infernape's head. It wasn't going to go down like this. Charred, beaten, near-death. That wasn't how it was going to end this fight.
"Grrrrr..."
Growlmon looked down at Infernape with confusion, and the flaming monkey slowly rose to its feet. Clenching its fists, Infernape's entire body was engulfed in flames, and the Pokemon rocketed at Growlmon like a blazing missile. Ramming right into Growlmon's stomach, Infernape launched his opponent's giant form backwards with powerful explosive force. Growlmon's damaged body plowed through several trees like a bulldozer, leaving a giant line of smashed wood and leaves in the forest.
Infernape used Flare Blitz!
"INFERNAPE!" The Flame Pokemon screeched before gritting its teeth in pain. The recoil damage from its Flare Blitz was kicking in. Meanwhile, Growlmon was struggling to get up after taking Infernape's attack, but he eventually got back on his feet and blew some smoke from his nose. He wasn't playing around anymore. Unfortunately, Growlmon could no longer see Infernape through the woods surrounding him, so he did what any other rational fire-breathing reptile would do.
"PYRO BLASTER!"
Infernape looked around in horror as soon as it heard those words. The trees behind the Pokemon burst into flames before burning to ash. Looking around, Infernape saw the fire spread and burn down more trees until half the forest was reduced to cinders.
"RRRAAAAAAGHGH!" Growlmon exclaimed as it emerged from the inferno he had started, pupils becoming slit and his gaze becoming that of a wild beast. Instead of backing down, Infernape glared up at its opponent and shrieked at him, the flames on his head growing more intense as it slammed its fists together.
"DRAGON SLASH!"
Growlmon swiped at Infernape with his elbow blades, Infernape dodging the slash before grabbing onto Growlmon's arm. Despite Infernape's size being less than impressive compared to Growlmon, the Pokemon was still very strong. It lifted Growlmon over its shoulder by his arm and slammed the Deep-Crimson Demon Dragon into the dirt. The grounded Growlmon swept Infernape off its feet with a swing of his tail before getting back up on his feet and grabbing the Fire-type Pokemon, crushing it in his hands.
"Now I've got you!" Growlmon exclaimed. The Digimon raised its foe into the air before driving it into the ground and unleashing a point-blank Pyro Blaster. The flames engulfed Infernape's body, and Growlmon reared up to celebrate what appeared to be his victory.
Big mistake.
Infernape jumped through the flames, covered in burns and bruises, and got extremely close to Growlmon before unleashing a barrage of punches and kicks on the reptilian Digimon, not giving him a second to rest or fight back.
Infernape used Close Combat!
With two more punches, Infernape struck Growlmon down. It was beaten, burned, and tired, but it had finally knocked its foe out. At least, for a little bit.
"Growlmon digivolve too..."
Infernape looked at Growlmon, and saw his body flash as more data streams poured into him.
"WARGROWLMON!"
Growlmon's body was now much larger, with crimson and silver armor covering his chest. His new metal arms has large blades coming from them, and a strange mask covered his face. With a mighty roar, WarGrowlmon swung his Pendulum Blades at Infernape, who rolled out of the blade's way. When the Pendulum Blade struck the ground, it left a massive gash in the earth, shaking the ground and nearly knocking Infernape off its feet.
"Infer-"
Before Infernape could finish saying its name in confusion, WarGrowlmon activated a pair of jets on his back and rocketed at Infernape, followed by kicking the Pokemon into the air.
"NAAAAAAAAAPE!" The Flame Pokemon screamed as it went flying into the air. WarGrowlmon used his jets to fly after Infernape, repeatedly slashing it with his Pendulum Blades before smacking it back to the ground with his tail. When he landed back on the ground, WarGrowlmon started charging energy into the cannons on his chest. Infernape looked up at WarGrowlmon, and grimaced at what was about to happen.
"ATOMIC BLASTER!"
Twin beams of crimson energy fired from WarGrowlmon's chest, but Infernape rolled out of the blast's way and used Mach Punch, landing a blow on WarGrowlmon's chest. However, Infernape felt a huge pain in his hand when the punch landed, and WarGrowlmon's armor didn't have so much as a dent in it.
"My armor is made of Chrome Digizoid, the strongest metal in the Digital World! You won't be able to break it that easily!" WarGrowlmon yelled. The Great Growlmon repeatedly swung his blades at Infernape, who had to quickly maneuver around each slash. As it dodged, it could feel itself tiring out, and it became much harder to avoid getting sliced up. Infernape attempted a Flame Wheel, but WarGrowlmon's armor made the attack about as effective as a light slap.
"PENDULUM BLADE!"
WarGrowlmon landed a direct hit to Infernape's chest with his plasma-enhanced blades, leaving behind a long slash mark. One backhanded slash later, and Infernape was knocked to the ground. Despite its wounds, Infernape still got up, eyes bloodshot and head flames raging just as much as ever.
"You don't like giving up, do you? That's okay. Neither do I. Which is why I'm gonna beat you!" WarGrowlmon exclaimed before bringing his arms down on Infernape, crushing the ground beneath them as Infernape attempted to hold them up. Though Infernape did its best to hold the Digimon's massive arms up, it was no use. With how beaten the Flame Pokemon was, there was no way it could hold up that much weight, and WarGrowlmon managed to crush Infernape under his hands. When WarGrowlmon raised his arms, Infernape looked like it was just about finished.
"ATOMIC BLASTER!"
WarGrowlmon fired crimson energy beams from its chest, hoping to finally finish Infernape off. When the blast hit, a giant explosion occurred, making a dust cloud billow up in the process. When the dust cleared, WarGrowlmon saw Infernape struggling to get back on its feet. The cyborg Digimon readied himself to attack again if need be as Infernape got back up and threw out its arms, letting out a loud screech as a pillar of flames erupted out around it.
"INFERNAPE!"
When Infernape opened its eyes, they glowed crimson, and the flames on its head were expanded and raging. The Flame Pokemon was burning brighter than ever. Wasting no time, Infernape curled into a ball and used Flame Wheel. Instead of his armor protecting him like expected, the flames actually burned WarGrowlmon a bit, though his armor was only slightly singed.
"Wow! He got strong all of a sudden!" WarGrowlmon muttered to himself. Infernape shot multiple small fireballs from his mouth, which WarGrowlmon blocked with his Pendulum Blades, before leaping back and using Fire Spin, but this time, the fiery cyclone was more like a raging tornado of Infernape's fury and passion, the flames forcing WarGrowlmon to duck and cover against the heat they were giving off.
WarGrowlmon gritted his teeth and fired an Atomic Blaster at Infernape, but the Blaze-enhanced Flame Pokemon dodged it and landed another Flame Wheel on WarGrowlmon. The Great Growlmon reared up and roared, slashing at the air with plasma-enhanced Pendulum Blades to forcefully dispel the Fire Spin that trapped him, but Infernape was ready for that. The fire monkey leaped at WarGrowlmon and unleashed a powerful Close Combat on him, followed with three Flame Wheels in succession.
"I'm gonna be charbroiled if this keeps up!" WarGrowlmon thought. Flame Wheel and Pendulum Blade clashed many times as Infernape and WarGrowlmon's battle raged on, the intense fires Infernape unleashed burning down every tree in the area, turning the once-lush forest into a desolate wasteland.
"ATOMIC BLASTER!"
Infernape dodged some more laser blasts from WarGrowlmon's chest, before countering with a barrage of Ember attacks. WarGrowlmon slapped the fireballs away and retaliated with a slash from his Pendulum Blades. Infernape jumped and grabbed onto one of the Pendulum Blades, running up it and climbing up WarGrowlmon's large body.
"Hey, what are you doing? T-That tickles!" WarGrowlmon exclaimed, trying to catch Infernape as it scurried up his body. When it reached the Digimon's chest plate, Infernape unleashed a barrage of Mach Punches onto it, hoping to dent the metal at the very least. However, WarGrowlmon swatted Infernape away with his Pendulum Blades, leaving it even more scratched up than it already was.
WarGrowlmon started firing Atomic Blaster after Atomic Blaster at Infernape, and the Flame Pokemon dodged and rolled around each shot before one of the blasts finally hit it. The resulting explosion propelled Infernape towards WarGrowlmon, who smacked it away with his blades. Getting back up on its feet, Infernape lunged at WarGrowlmon and struck it with a flurry of Mach Punches to the jaw. WarGrowlmon slashed and bit at it, but Infernape kept wailing on him. Finally, Infernape struck WarGrowlmon with a Flame Wheel that pushed him back and knocked him to the ground.
When the Flame Pokemon landed, it clung onto WarGrowlmon's chest, standing on top of him and pumping its fists with victory. Meanwhile, WarGrowlmon was pissed. This thing thought it could attack him out of nowhere, destroy his favorite playing area, and beat him to a pulp without consequences. No, he was going to make this monkey pay for what it did.
"RAAAAAAAAGH!" The Great Growlmon screamed as he got back up on his feet, knocking Infernape off of his chest and throwing out his arms. If one looked close enough, they'd see the Digimon's eyes glowing crimson. Suddenly, a tornado of flames erupted around WarGrowlmon's body, the Digital Hazard symbol on his chest rapidly flashing different colors before his massive body was completely hidden in the inferno.
BOOM!
Lightning flashed in the sky as WarGrowlmon continued roaring from inside the fire tornado, his silhouette visibly changing and shifting into something much more monstrous. Infernape backed away in confusion before the inferno finally dissipated, revealing something that could only be described as horrific in WarGrowlmon's place.
He now resembled a colossal dragon, with a long tail replacing his legs and tattered yellow wings on his back. His irises were blood-red, and his entire body was crimson and white. The symbol on his chest now also appeared on his snout and shoulders, and his massive arms had two bladed gauntlets on them.
Megidramon let out a roar, though it wasn't just any roar. This was a primal roar filled with anger and hatred. Instead of backing down and running away, Infernape stepped up to the Digital Hazard and let out a roar of its own. Megidramon glared down at Infernape, and roared once more, some of his saliva getting on Infernape's face and burning his skin. But Infernape didn't back down. The Flame Pokemon screeched, beat its chest, and struck Megidramon in the face with a Mach Punch.
Megidramon showed no sign of pain from the blow. All it did was snarl and looked annoyed, so Infernape tried again. No matter how many punches it landed, Megidramon didn't seem to feel anything from them. He just roared again and swiped at Infernape with his claws, tearing up the ground while Infernape lunged out of the way.
The Flame Pokemon used every attack it could to attempt to take down Megidramon. It tried a Flame Wheel, but the Digital Hazard smacked him away with a swipe of his claws. It tried Fire Spin, but a simple roar from the Virus-type dispelled the flames. It tried Close Combat, but the blows just glanced off of Megidramon's armored skin. All the while, Megidramon lashed out with his tail and claws, brutally beating Infernape and knocking him down.
Infernape tried to get back up, but all the damage it had taken was taking its toll, making it hard for the Pokemon to stand. When it eventually did get up, Infernape decided to bring out its strongest attack. The Sinnoh Starter jumped into the air and engulfed its body with flames, which quickly went from a reddish-orange to a bright blue.
"IN! FERN! APE!" The fire monkey exclaimed, propelling itself at Megidramon like a simian missile and striking the Digimon in the chest. However, it did nothing. Megidramon just roared at Infernape as it tried desperately to harm him with Flare Blitz. As the attack cancelled out, Megidramon wrapped his long tail around Infernape, pulled the Pokemon close to his jaws, and opened his mouth. Looking deep into the Digimon's jaws, Infernape could see a bright orange flame building up inside them.
"Nape?"
In one shot, the Megiddo Flame reduced Infernape's body to nothing but ashes.
K.O.!
Megidramon's body glowed, and he started to shrink. Eventually, he was reduced back to the form of Guilmon.
"That made me tired... I'm just gonna rest here for a bit." The Digital Hazard said, falling asleep in the wasteland his battle had created.

Flash: Damn! That was brutal.
Raiden: At the beginning of the fight, Infernape actually had a chance of winning. Its speed, strength, and larger attack variety gave it multiple advantages over Guilmon, who only had two attacks, and lacked the intelligence to come up with any good strategy to counter.
Bayonetta: And then digivolving comes into play.
Flash: Digivolution gave Guilmon a way to simultaneously heal himself and increase his strength by a large amount. Each time Guilmon digivolved, he'd be restored to full health, while Infernape kept every injury he took to the bitter end. It doesn't help that Guilmon's digivolutions are much larger than Infernape, and WarGrowlmon's armor was tough enough to take anything Infernape could dish out.
Raiden: Though Blaze could even the playing field a bit, it only activates when Infernape's very close to getting knocked out, meaning Infernape would have to take its opponent out without getting hit too much.
Bayonetta: When Megidramon comes out, that's when Infernape really doesn't have a chance. His body is made entirely of Chrome Digizoid, meaning Infernape wouldn't be able to land much good hits on him, while one Megiddo Flame could reduce Infernape to dust.
Flash: Looks like Infernape's fire won't be burning anymore.
Raiden: The winner is Guilmon.

+Could keep up decently with Infernape in base form
+Digivolving fully healed him, along with increasing his strength
+Digivolved forms were much bigger than Infernape

Got this one done just in time for October! When the fiery combatants of Pokemon and Digimon face off, who will emerge victorious? Will Infernape's martial arts and Blaze ability incinerate Guilmon, or will Guilmon's Digital Hazard reduce the Flame Pokemon to ashes? As always, I hope you all enjoy the fight!
